A LOVE for Powder Blue Formats!
Highly Encouraged:
•
All-Star Presenter Camp Record of Completion**
* Only Gold or Platinum ranked
instructors are eligible for selection as an APD: If you do not have a Gold
ranking but wish to apply, you may allow your Application submission to also be
your re-test! Please include a check for $35 for each format you are re-testing
for, along with your application and DVD submission.
NOTE: An overall Platinum ranking is highly favored. (ROCKSTAR rank from
All-Star Instructor Training or All-Star Presenter Camp + Gold in any Powder
Blue format = Platinum in that format!)
** All-Star Presenter Camp is not APD AUDITION Camp, it is a one of a kind training where
you will learn everything you need to become a presenter. (Limited cities/states
have this training scheduled. We highly suggest making every effort to attend
one of these events if they are offered in your area). Attending All-Star
Presenter Camp gives one an advantage to those that attend.
All
requirements must be met in order to be qualified to apply for an APD position.
Once all applications have been reviewed, those accepted will be invited to
attend our annual APD Audition Camp – For more information, please contact the
National Promotions Director:
ChristineDwyer@turbokick.com
or the National Promotions Supervisor:
MindyLawhorne@turbokick.com.
We receive many applications each month. Each
year we conduct one to two trainings, based upon need.
AUDITION CAMP DATES
Audition Camp dates change each year. Selected applicants are notified of our
training process and dates with a minimum of 3 weeks notice.
TRAVEL TO ATTEND APD
AUDITION CAMP:
All selected applicants are required to pay their own transportation to the
training/audition conducted in Southern California. We, in return, cover
lodging, some meals, entertainment, and several days’ worth of invaluable
training with a great bunch of professionals! We are very selective. We only
invite those who we believe have tremendous potential to be successful on our
team.
Potential presenters
invited to the training, APD Audition Camp, have the ability to showcase their
skills, attitude, organization and professionalism. It's a great opportunity and
a fun, valuable weekend spent networking, learning and making new friends.
WHAT’S COVERED AT APD AUDITION CAMP?
Enhanced public speaking, the art of presentation, how to become a savvy
traveler, the complete Turbo Kick® Instructor Training, PiYo™ Instructor
Training, Hustle™ Instructor Training and All-Star Presenter Camp Training.
Applicants who are currently teaching Turbo Kick®, PiYo™, and Hustle™ are given
top priority.
Applicants
are selected based on their ability to be captivating and entertaining on video,
on their public speaking skills and on their overall attitude! In addition, we
consider the NEED for additional APD's in certain regions of the country, an
individual's dedication and support of our program(s), length of time teaching
our formats and other related presenting experience.
How long does my DVD need to be of me teaching a
class?
Your DVD needs to be at least 15 minutes long of
you teaching a class. We advise that you not just submit the warm-up portion of
your class. If you wish to show your warm-up, please continue filming for an
additional 15 min. after the warm-up!
How long does my entire DVD need to be?
Your entire DVD should consist of you introducing
yourself and the formats you are applying for, at least 15 min. of you teaching
TK, 15 min. of Hustle™ and 15 min. of you teaching PiYo™ (if you are applying
for all formats). We give higher priority to those who teach all formats*.
If you have been trained in all formats, we would like to see them all. (*it is
not required to have attended all of our trainings prior to applying, but
probability is much higher of being selected if you have)
What if I only want to present one format?
You can apply for just one format if you wish.
Your chance of getting invited to attend our audition process at presenter camp
is higher if you are willing and able to present multiple formats. However, we
will consider those who are just applying for one format.
Do
I really need to have BOTH AFAA and ACE certifications?
If you have a fitness related degree, you do not
need to hold certifications in AFAA or ACE. The degree will suffice. If you do
not have a fitness-related degree you will need to be both ACE and AFAA
Certified (specifications below). Why, you ask? Powder Blue Productions provides AFAA and ACE credits at
trainings. This is why all presenters need to be active providers through Powder
Blue in both AFAA and ACE. (International applicants are not required to have
ACE or AFAA unless they will be providing those credits in their international
venues)
What type of Certifications do I need for AFAA and
ACE?
AFAA needs to be a Primary certification. ACE can
be either Group Fitness or Personal Trainer.
How can I find out if my degree is considered
"Fitness related" instead of getting the AFAA or ACE certifications?
You can contact AFAA and ACE and ask their
continuing education department. The AFAA contact is Kim Miller at 800-446-2322.
ACE is Jessica Matthews at 800-825-3636 ext. 790.
How
much do you actually work as an APD/Presenter?
As an Area Promotions Director, you schedule your
events in your territory. You work closely with the National Promotions Director
(Christine Dwyer) and the National Promotions Supervisor (Mindy Lawhorne) on how
many events to schedule in your area, but no more than 1 weekend per month as a
new APD.
How much time do you really spend working in this
position?
Like any new position, ramp up time is higher.
For example, you will need to memorize choreography, scripts, material,
processes, etc. APD’s work an average of 5-12 hours per week. You will do a lot
of emailing, phone calling, and promotional "master classes" to create interest
in your event. Once you have completed your first event, most likely you will be
working on the lower end of the 5-12 hours/week scale. Similarly, your initial
ramp up time (getting prepared for your first event) will be on the higher range
of the 5-12 hours/week scale.
How much does this position pay?
Wage and commission related information will be
discussed at camp. However, all APD’s operate as independent consultants and
have the ability to earn a respectable full time salary or a part-time income
based on their personal goals . We will, however, disclose fee structure in
detail to those who are invited to APD Audition Camp.
